Why there is no analytics on this site

No analytics, no tag manager, no cookie banner, because there are no cookies to consent to.

We would like to know which lessons people finish. We would like it less than we dislike shipping a third-party script that watches you read.

The honest cost: we are guessing about what works. Course ordering, lesson length, which patterns matter — all judgement, none measured. That is a real loss and worth naming rather than dressing up as principle.

What we get instead: a site that loads on a bad connection, has nothing to leak, and needs no banner.

There is a version of this that would work — server log analysis, aggregate and anonymous, no client-side script at all. GitHub Pages does not expose logs, so it is not available here. If it were, we would probably take it, which is worth saying rather than pretending the position is more principled than it is.

The trade is defensible in both directions; we just picked one and will say which.
